Dawn of the Dev: A 2025 Portlander's Tech Tale

Alright, folks. Jake here, your average introverted Portlander who's decided to take the plunge into the wild world of blogging. I'm a 24-year-old software developer and indie game creator, and I figure it's high time I started documenting my journey from junior dev to... well, something more. Senior? Lead? Who knows? Let's find out together.

First things first, I'm a sucker for tech. Always have been, always will be. There's just something about the way we can shape the world with code that gets my nerd juices flowing. I'm currently neck-deep in learning the latest and greatest (and let's be real, the not-so-great-but-still-cool) tech trends. But don't worry, I promise to keep the jargon to a minimum. I want my mom to be able to read this, after all.

Now, I'm not one of those "rah-rah, let's go, team" kinds of people. I'm more of a "hm, maybe we should consider this approach" guy. I'm working on it, though. Baby steps, right? My dry humor is my shield, my coping mechanism, my... well, you get the idea. And yes, I'm a perfectionist. But I'm trying to balance that with the whole "ship it already" mindset. Easier said than done, am I right?

When I'm not behind a screen, you can find me brewing coffee (yes, I'm that guy), jamming out to indie tunes, or hiking around this beautiful city I call home. And yes, I still have a soft spot for retro gaming. Don't judge me.

So, what's my plan here? Well, I want to document my growth, my failures, my triumphs. I want to talk about the tech I'm learning, the games I'm creating, and the struggles I'm facing. I want to connect with other developers, other creators, other introverts who get it. And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, I'll figure out this whole "leading" thing along the way.

But enough about me. What about you? What brings you here? What are you working on? Let's chat in the comments, yeah? Until next time, this is Jake, signing off from Portland.
