Embracing the Heat: A New Chapter in My Design Journey

Mandy

Hey, fashion fam! It's your girl Mandy, checking in from a sizzling LA afternoon. The sun's blazing, and we're hitting a scorching 93°F (34°C) today. I'm cooling down with an iced matcha latte, trying to keep my cool—literally and figuratively.

Reflecting on Schiaparelli's "Dancer in the Dark" collection, I've been captivated by Daniel Roseberry's ability to blend surrealism with wearability. His designs, like the trompe-l'œil knits and sculptural tailoring, challenge conventional fashion norms.

Inspired by this, I've been experimenting with unconventional materials and bold silhouettes in my own designs. It's been a journey of trial and error, but each misstep has taught me valuable lessons about balance and creativity.

One of my recent creations—a dress incorporating unexpected textures and asymmetrical cuts—was a direct result of embracing these challenges. The process was daunting, but the outcome was a piece that truly reflects my evolving aesthetic.

This experience has reinforced the idea that obstacles aren't setbacks; they're opportunities for growth. By stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the heat—both literally and metaphorically—I've discovered new facets of my creativity.

With love and a touch of iced matcha,

Mandy
