Unveiling My Heart: A Journey Through Vulnerability and Design
Hey, fashion fam! It's your girl Mandy, checking in from a crisp LA morning. The city's just waking up, and I'm here, espresso in hand, ready to share some thoughts that have been swirling in my mind.
Lately, I've been diving deep into the art of vulnerability—not just in life, but in my designs. Inspired by Daniel Roseberry's latest for Schiaparelli, especially that crimson satin gown with the sculpted torso and mechanical, beating heart, I've been reflecting on how exposing our inner selves can lead to profound creativity.
In my recent work, I've been experimenting with elements that reveal the 'inner workings' of a garment—think exposed seams, raw edges, and unexpected cutouts. This approach mirrors the idea that beauty often lies in imperfection and authenticity. It's a bit nerve-wracking, letting the world see the unpolished parts of my creations, but it's also incredibly liberating.
This journey hasn't been without its challenges. Allowing others to see the unfinished, unpolished parts of my work—and myself—can be daunting. But I've come to realize that it's through these shared experiences that we grow, both as designers and as individuals.
So, here's to embracing the beating heart of creativity, to being vulnerable, and to finding strength in our connections with others. After all, it's these relationships that breathe life into our art and our lives.
With love and a touch of espresso,
Mandy
